Jobe and Hermione, little lamb friends
Text by Sharon
Jobe and Hermione came to us as established friends, and they were rarely apart. They rested together, grazed together, and looked out for each other. Jobe was timid, yet brave and curious. Hermione was very afraid of us and nervous. The love they have for each other became obvious the day the vet came to vaccinate the new lambs.
Hermione being afraid of humans kept a distance during the vet’s visit. Whilst Seline and Harvey, the other two lambs, approached without fuss, and accepted their examination and vaccination with little protest, Hermione struggled and shook with fear.
When it came time for Jobe to be vaccinated and checked, Hermione suddenly became extremely vocal.
Going against her need to be away from humans, she approached us as we held Jobe for the vet, her baas insistent and pleading. There was no doubt what this brave wee 6-week-old lamb was saying – “Please don’t hurt him.”
Hermione stayed close through Jobe’s entire examination. It was an extremely brave act from a tiny lamb who had already shown great fear of humanity.
